Following confirmation by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) that Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania will jointly host the Pamoja AFCON 2027 tournament, an inspection team has carried out a comprehensive assessment of Uganda’s proposed facilities.

The CAF delegation, led by Dr. Christian Emeruwa, Head of Safety and Security and Stephanie Totokra, Head of Infrastructure, conducted a two-day inspection tour from 16–17 February 2026.

The team evaluated the preparedness, safety standards, and infrastructure compliance of several key venues earmarked for the tournament.

The facilities inspected included Mandela National Stadium (Namboole), Hoima City Stadium, FUFA Stadium-Kadiba, Kyambogo University Training Ground, and Makerere University Playground.

The inspection focused on structural integrity, pitch quality, security arrangements, media facilities, team amenities, and overall tournament readiness.

The exercise forms a crucial part of CAF’s monitoring and evaluation framework to ensure that host nations meet the required international standards well ahead of the 2027 tournament. Such inspections are vital in identifying infrastructure gaps, assessing risk management systems, and recommending improvements to guarantee a safe, world-class competition.

At the conclusion of the programme, the CAF officials held a debriefing session with members of the AFCON Local Organising Committee (LOC) and the Secretariat, where they shared preliminary observations and reaffirmed their commitment to submitting a detailed technical report outlining their findings and recommendations.
