Volunteers Ready to Support CHAN 2024 as Uganda Launches Training Program
On Thursday, 24th July 2025 Uganda officially launched the CHAN 2024 Volunteers Program at MTN Arena, Lugogo. The event brought together over 400 successful applicants who attended both morning and evening sessions.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Justus Mugisha the Vice Chairperson of the CHAN Workforce & Volunteers Committee emphasized the importance of Uganda hosting CHAN 2024. He highlighted the bid process and the responsibilities expected of all parties involved.
“This is the strongest confirmation yet that Uganda is ready to host CHAN 2024, affirming our commitment to being the best host. We have successfully completed the first stage which is orienting our volunteers. While the process has been a success, this is just the beginning. We will now move into role-specific training and task allocation. I’m glad to note that everyone who attended is well prepared and enthusiastic ready to add real value to the tournament,” said Mr. Mugisha.

A motivational talk by former Uganda Cranes captain Andy Mwesigwa, David Katende, Sam Mpiima and Ahmed Bogere Masembe.
The orientation marked a major milestone in CHAN 2024 preparations, setting the tone for the next phase: role-specific training and deployment. Uganda’s volunteer force is now energized and ready to deliver a world-class experience for the continent.
