The Senegal National Team has safely landed in Kampala this evening (Wednesday, 20th August, 2025) ahead of their much-anticipated crucial CHAN 2024 quarter-final showdown against the hosts, the Uganda Cranes.
Senegal’s arrival at Entebbe International Airport was met with enthusiasm from both the Local Organising Committee and fans, raising the energy ahead of what is expected to be an electrifying contest.
In what has become a defining moment for East African football, all three co-hosts—Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda- have progressed to the quarter-final stage.
According to the fixture released by the Confederation of African football (CAF), Kenya will face Madagascar in Nairobi on Friday, while Tanzania goes up against Morocco in Dar es Salaam. Uganda’s showdown with Senegal closes out the round on Saturday, followed by Sudan clashing with Algeria in Zanzibar.

Mark Namanya, the CHAN AFCON Secretariat PR & Communications Manager, told the press while receiving the team from Senegal that, as a host Nation, Uganda is ready to showcase the Pan African spirit of joy and togetherness during the game.
“We are happy to welcome Senegal to Uganda. These are our brothers, and CHAN 2024 has given us an opportunity to share that brotherhood with the rest of Africa. I believe that the much-anticipated game will be peaceful and very entertaining,” said Namanya while speaking to the Press at Entebbe International Airport on Wednesday night.
Uganda’s journey to the final eight, topping their group after six previous unsuccessful attempts, has captivated local fans, especially after their dramatic draw with South Africa.
With full stadiums anticipated across all venues, the “Pamoja” (Swahili for “together”) spirit of this historic edition continues to unite football fans, and hopes are high that the tournament will deliver unforgettable moments.
