The Local Organising Committee (LOC) has issued a strong warning to football fans ahead of Match Day Four of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, urging them to buy tickets only through the official online platform to avoid being denied entry at Namboole Stadium.

Speaking to the press on Wednesday, 14th August 2025 at Uganda Media Centre, Dr. Dennis K. Mugimba, Chairperson of the LOC Communications and Signage Sub-Committee, said that all physical ticket sales ended after Match Day One on 4th August 2025, when the Confederation of African Football (CAF) experimented with selling 4,000 tickets at FUFA House. Since then, all match tickets have been sold exclusively online.

“Right now, if you buy a Match Day physical ticket for CHAN 2024 in Uganda, you are either buying a fake or a duplicate ticket,” Dr. Mugimba cautioned.

He explained that Namboole Stadium’s ticketing system automatically detects and rejects both counterfeit and duplicated tickets. Duplicate tickets often arise when fans print multiple copies of the same online ticket or share a soft copy with others — in such cases, only the first person to scan it at the gate will be admitted.

“To avoid disappointment, we advise fans to purchase tickets directly from the official online platform and ensure the print quality is clear, with all features, including the barcode, visible,” he said.

Dr. Mugimba also reminded spectators that the LOC and CAF take no responsibility for the quality of printouts. He warned that those whose tickets are rejected should cooperate with stewards and avoid creating disturbances that may attract the attention of security personnel.

The LOC further emphasised stadium entry guidelines, including that only one person may pass through the turnstiles at a time, and that fans must remain in their allocated seats as indicated on the ticket. Movement between sections without authorisation is prohibited.

Ticket prices remain at Shs. 10,000 for Ordinary, Shs. 30,000 for Silver, and Shs. 50,000 for Premium, with payments available via MTN MoMo, Airtel Money, or bank card (Visa/MasterCard).

“Let’s fill the stands, support our guests, and showcase Uganda’s hospitality — but do it the right way, with genuine tickets,” Dr. Mugimba concluded.

Match Day Four on Friday, 15th August 2025, will feature Guinea vs. Algeria at 5:00 p.m. and Niger vs. South Africa at 8:00 p.m.
