The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the tens of thousands of fans whose passionate support has energized the Uganda Cranes during CHAN 2024 matches at Namboole Stadium.
Dr. Dennis K. Mugimba, Chairperson of Communications and Signage, highlighted the significant role fans have played in lifting the team’s performance.
“Your cheers from the stands were a shot of energy to the Uganda Cranes, helping them recover the ball, defend the goal, and score the goals,”
Dr. Mugimba said. “We deeply appreciate the 34,000 fans who filled the stadium on Friday, a remarkable increase from previous matches.”
The atmosphere at Namboole Stadium has been electric throughout the tournament, with fans turning out in large numbers, dressed in red, black, and yellow, waving flags and passionately cheering. This vibrant environment has been instrumental in driving the team to perform at their best on home soil.
“In addition to Ugandan supporters, the LOC also extended thanks to visiting fans from Guinea, whose spirited presence and respectful cheering added flavor to the stadium experience. Your enthusiasm was the spice that flavored this historic co-hosting of CHAN 2024 in Uganda,” Dr. Mugimba noted.
According to Dr. Mugimba, ticket demand has surged, with more than 10,000 tickets selling within hours for some match days. The LOC encourages fans to secure their seats early through authorized platforms to continue supporting the Cranes in their pursuit of CHAN glory.
The overwhelming support not only lifts the players but also showcases Uganda’s football culture and passion on a continental stage, reinforcing Namboole Stadium’s reputation as a fortress for the national team.
As CHAN 2024 progresses, the LOC pledges to maintain a safe and welcoming environment where fans can celebrate football in unity and excitement.
